Mixed Media Landscapes

Watercolour is one of the most beautiful — and most underused — mediums in elementary classrooms, and Paint & Print is designed to change that. Students learn a roster of foundational watercolour techniques that build their confidence not just for this project but every time they pick up a brush afterwards. My goal is to leave you and your students excited to reach for those palettes more often.

We work on 5"x7" paper — a deliberately approachable size, standard for framing and never overwhelming. The theme is landscape, and every student paints their own expressive sky. No examples to copy, no two results the same.

Once the watercolour is down, students learn the basics of relief printmaking — inking a brayer, pulling a clean print — and add bold, graphic prints directly on top of their painted skies. The combination is striking, and the results are always so beautiful.

I bring all materials and handle every bit of the prep, so all that's left is to enjoy the process with your students.
