General

Do you travel outside Edmonton's city limits?


Yes, I do travel outside of Edmonton! Please note that there is an additional travel fee for programs outside the city limit. Travel fees are approximately $1/km. Please see below for some of our most frequently requested travel fees.

What is your cancelllation policy?


In the event that you need to cancel or reschedule your program, we require at least two weeks notice in writing to emma@artventures.ca. No fee will be charged provided this requirement is met. Less than two weeks notice for cancellation or rescheduling will result in a $50 fee, or loss of your booking deposit. If less than 48 hours is provided for a cancelled or rescheduled program, the full program fee will be charged.




When is payment due?


Payment is due on or before your program date. You may pay by cash, cheque (made out to ArtVentures) in person, or with credit card through your invoice.




Can I host my own event out of the ArtVentures home studio?


No. ArtVentures offers mobile art education, which means I come to you! If you would like suggestions for venues aside from your own space, I would love to share some local partners with you. Please feel free to contact me for more information.





School Programs

Do school programs break for recess?


No, School Programs do not break for recess. Please adjust your snack and break routine accordingly.




Do I actually need adult helpers for in-school field trips?


Yes! Inviting adult helpers into the classroom as Artist Assistants makes a big difference. Adult helpers are asked to:

  • Distribute and refresh materials while students receive instruction
  • Assist with set up and clean up
  • Circulate the classroom to provide support as needed
  • Encourage creative risk taking
  • Ensure students are on task
If you are unable to acquire adult helpers, consider empowering older students by inviting them into the classroom instead!




Can my students only do the field trip assigned to their grade?


No! I have assigned grade levels to projects to make it easier for teachers to coordinate programs with one another, and to help avoid repeat programs for students. Most projects can be adapted to suit any grade level.




How can I prepare my class for my upcoming in-school fieldtrip?


Please have:

  • Your students' desks or tables arranged into four to six pods / groups, depending on class size and students' needs.
  • The appropriate number of adult helpers
  • Ensure there is direct access to your classroom up to thirty minutes prior to program start time. It is best if you can arrange for students to be away from their desks during this time (ie in the library, gym class, reading carpet, etc).




Do you bring table covers?


Yes, I do! Please ensure your students desks or tables are arranged in 4-6 pods before my arrival.




Why do desks need to be in pods?


Desks need to be arranged in pods for a number of reasons.

  • Sharing and distribution of materials
  • Increased working space
  • To accomodate table coverings
  • Ease for adult helpers / artist assistants

What if my classroom does not have a sink?


No problem! Please be sure to indicate this in your booking request form. I am happy to provide an alternative upon request.




Is there a multiple class discount?


Yes! In order to qualify for the multi-class discount of 10%, consecutive programs must take place in the same room. This should be the same program for different classes.




How many adult helpers do I need?


Kindergarten - Grade 2: One helper for each pod or group. Grade 3- Grade 4: Three or four helpers total. Grade 5 - Grade 6: One or two helpers total.




How long are school programs?


Most school programs run approximately 90 minutes. Morning programs run 9:30-11:00 AM. Afternoon programs run 12:30 - 2:00 PM. As every class is different, please be prepared to accomodate up to 15 minutes wiggle room over or under scheduled run time.




How much do school programs cost?


School programs are charged per student, at a rate of $14 per student. Please note this rate reflects a minimum class size of 20 students. Classes of fewer than 20 students will be charged a minimum rate of $280 per class.
